A Year On: Living Under the Tories

A year ago I wrote this piece in response to the outcome of the General Election, whereby it was announced that the Conservatives had been elected to govern Britain for the next 5 years.

A year on, and I dare say that things appear much worse than I (and, undoubtedly, countless others) could have expected.  But what more could we expect when we're being governed by  a capitalist, corporatist, anti-equality, pro-austerity, privatisation bourgeoisie machine. 

Political Apathy

Within society, there is a substantial number of “apathetics” – those people with no interest in politics, and they make up around 30% of the population.  This figure is reflected in low election turnouts, both local and national, and the low percentage of political party membership.

But, is being indifferent to political changes and participation in fact another, less recognised, form of participating in politics?
